I4th Convocation: AAUA Crowns 5,799 Graduates Friday

 Adekunle Ajasin University (AAUA) is set to hold its 14th convocation ceremony on Friday, 12 December and Saturday, 13 December 2025, conferring degrees on a total of 5,799 students. Among them, 32 candidates will receive First‑Class honours, a milestone the outgoing Vice‑Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga E. Ige, described as “a testament to the academic discipline, resilience, and integrity that define AAUAThe ceremony, to be staged at the University Multipurpose Hall, caps a week‑long programme that began on 5 December with a Jumat service and will conclude on 14 December with an inter‑denominational thanksgiving serviceOther activities include a keep‑fit exercise, a research, development and innovation fair, a convocation lecture by former University of Ibadan Vice‑Chancellor Prof. Wole Olaniyan, and a friendly football match Speaking at a pre‑convocation press briefing in the Senate Chamber, Prof. Ige said the convocation marks his final official duty after a five‑year tenure that began on 7 July 2021.He recalled a personal bookmark moment, noting that the university had not only maintained its reputation as one of Nigeria’s premier state universities but had also advanced in research, digital learning, staff development and community service Some of the Key achievements highlighted by the VC included; "Expansion of academic offerings three new faculties (Allied Health Sciences, Computing, and Administration & Management Sciences) were created, raising the total number of faculties from seven to ten "All programmes assessed by the National Universities Commission (NUC) secured 100 % accreditation, with new courses also passing resource‑verification exercises "Nine AAUA scholars were listed among the top two per cent of researchers worldwide in the 2024 Elsevier‑Stanford Global Scientist Ranking "The lecture series grew from 15 in 2021 to 51 delivered so far, with the 52nd scheduled for next week , Completion of the Faculty of Science glasshouse, a new Faculty of Social Sciences building, renovation of the 30‑classroom Quadrangle, the Faculty of Education, and the laying of the foundation for an 80‑capacity hall of residence funded by staff, alumni, students and friends of the university"Introduction of a Work‑Study Scheme, tuition subsidies for physically‑challenged students, and enhanced sports programmes that have yielded medals at the Nigerian University Games (NUGA) , Graduates have secured high‑profile appointments in government, earned international academic awards and set Guinness World Records, underscoring the university’s role in producing transformative leadersProf. Ige however expressed gratitude to Governor Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the university’s governing council, staff, students, alumni and the press for their support. He urged the AAUA community to continue the momentum, saying, “When a community is united by purpose, progress becomes inevitableNewsline NG gathered that the convocation week will also feature a Research, Development and Innovation Fair on 9 December and a convocation lecture on “Strengthening the Academic Tradition in the Nigerian University System” by Prof. Idowu Olayinka on 11 DecemberThe 14th Convocation Ceremony continues through 13 December, with the final thanksgiving service scheduled for 14 December
