Sam Maris University Matriculates 413 Students at Second Ceremony

Sam Maris University (SMU), Supare-Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, the first private university in Akokoland, has matriculated 413 fresh students at its Second Matriculation Ceremony, recording its highest student intake since inception.Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Gbore, described the ceremony as a historic milestone that reflects the University’s growth, vision, and unwavering commitment to quality education and sustainable development.Prof. Gbore disclosed that the University received 522 applications for the 2025/2026 academic session, admitted 447 candidates, and enrolled 413 students who met its academic and regulatory requirements, representing a 58.85 percent increase over the previous year.“At this second matriculation ceremony, we formally welcome 413 students into the Sam Maris University community of scholars. This is the highest student admission recorded so far by the fledgling University,” he said.Addressing the matriculating students, the Vice-Chancellor urged them to uphold discipline, integrity, and excellence, noting that they were now active participants in national and global development.He added that the University is purpose-driven and focused on producing solution-oriented graduates equipped with relevant skills, strong moral values, and a global outlook, in line with the ceremony’s theme, “Sustainable Growth and Development.” He also revealed that initiatives such as foreign language learning and improved ICT facilities are being introduced to enhance graduates’ global competitiveness.Prof. Gbore assured parents and guardians of the safety and wellbeing of students, stating that the University has strengthened collaboration with relevant security agencies to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.The Vice-Chancellor commended the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Chief Promoter, Mr. Sam T. Ologunorisa, SAN, members of the Governing Council, and other stakeholders for their continued support.  He also congratulated the new students and wished them a successful and fulfilling academic journey.The Don concluded by affirming that Sam Maris University remains committed to steady institutional growth, innovation, and the delivery of world-class education that will produce graduates equipped to drive sustainable national and global development."
