The Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, has called on registry personnel to prioritise accuracy and timeliness in managing institutional records, saying effective information handling is vital to the university’s growth and integrity.Ige made the call on Thursday, February 5, 2026, while speaking at the university’s 3rd Annual Registry Lecture, which focused on the theme, “The University Registry: A Silent but Indispensable Pillar of University Administration.”He described the Registry as the backbone of the university’s administrative structure, noting that sound documentation and reliable information systems were essential for smooth governance and long-term development. The Vice-Chancellor said the annual lecture provided a valuable forum for learning and professional enrichment, adding that continuous capacity building was key to sustaining efficiency within the Registry.Ige praised the Registrar, Mr Olugbenga Arajulu, for institutionalising the annual lecture, describing the initiative as a lasting contribution to administrative competence in the university. He also commended the guest speaker, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, Founder and Pro-Chancellor of Achievers University, Owo, for sharing practical perspectives drawn from his experience in higher education management. In his remarks, Arajulu said the lecture marked the final edition to be held during his tenure as Registrar, as he prepares to retire, expressing gratitude for the support he received from the university leadership.Delivering the lecture, Prof. Ayorinde said a functional Registry remained indispensable to university administration, stressing that effective coordination, order and institutional stability depended largely on its operations. The event featured the presentation of awards of honour to the Vice-Chancellor, the guest lecturer and the University Librarian.
