Meta today officially announced that it has begun a limited test of display ads on Threads, the new social media site positioned below Instagram. Meta says it is being tested in a limited manner, and only involves a small number of advertisers for now.Meta says that Threads now has over 300 million active users each month, and three-quarters of users follow at least one business account.Advertising management on Threads will be done through Meta’s existing Ads Manager offering. Ads are displayed in a display format similar to regular sharing, but labeled as “Ads” or “Sponsored”.For the test phase, ads will appear on the homepage, and also use image display with them. For now, advertising on Threads is being tested in a few countries only, and is expected to be expanded globally.
