LG Begins Mass Production of Tandem OLED Screens

Tandem OLED is a new method that Apple uses to get an iPad screen that is many times brighter. On the new iPad Pro M4, two OLED panels are combined to achieve a brightness of 1600-nits. Most recently, LG has begun mass production of Tandem OLED screens for laptops.This is not surprising as LG is still one of the screen suppliers for Apple. On the 13-inch iPad Pro M4, the screen used is from LG as opposed to the 11-inch version from Samsung. For laptop screens, LG promises that this new screen can achieve three times better brightness than normal OLED screens. Not only that, the power consumption is also 40% more economical and the design is 40% thinner.With new laptops now targeting the use of AI with Snapdragon X chips, manufacturers want to offer Windows laptops that can beat the capabilities of the MacBook Air. So thin and light design like MacBook Air identity becomes important and this Tandem OLED screen is 28% lighter than usual. Among the laptops that will use this screen is the Dell XPS 13 AI PC.
