Kadokawa Attacked by Hackers – Nicovideo Service Down Until Now

One of Japan's largest creative content publishing companies, Kadokawa was reportedly hacked over a month ago through ransomware. Hacker group Black Suit has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack, and has provided details of the data that was stolen and locked.According to the group, they have stolen and locked approximately 1.5TB of data containing various types of confidential information such as contracts with customers, company documents, user details of various Kadokawa platforms, personal details of employees, project data, financial and variousThe hack reportedly took place in the first week of June 2024, and Kadokawa has been given until July 1, 2024 to pay a ransom to return these data. Kadokawa apparently tried to bargain for a lower ransom price, but was ignored by the hacker group. In the meantime, the video streaming platform under Kadokawa, namely Nicovideo was also affected by this attack, and as a result, the video platform is still disrupted until today and the website link will be directed to their blog page.So far, Kadokawa still can't seem to find any answers on how they want to get their data back, and worse, the same hacking group seems to have started draining the company's data bit by bit for each week they don't pay the demanded ransom.
