Android devices with E-Ink screens are not popular due to low refresh rates, slow performance and lack of utility other than reading. Most recently they have launched Light Phone 3, after five years Light Phone 2 was introduced.Light Phone 3 runs the LightOS operating system built on Android. Although Android, Light makes this LightOS a very light operating system because it has removed many applications. It only has the functionality of a mobile phone with a few smart features such as accessing maps, streaming music, calendars and preventing users from installing apps.Their third generation device uses a 3.92-inch OLED e-ink square screen, powered by Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, paired with 6GB of RAM memory and 128GB of internal storage. The device has a USB-C port for charging, fingerprint scanner, eSIM support, replaceable battery, self-repair design, NFC for payments, and has IP54 protection. The Light also includes a 50MP rear and 8MP front camera that cannot be shared or edited, but rather for memory and also QR code scanning.
