Vivo V40 Pro First Look – Mid-range Device With ZEISS Camera

Vivo and ZEISS collaboration pays off in mobile imaging technology. That is what we have said in one of the previous articles. Even interesting in the new Vivo V40 Pro phone offering this time is the improved internal hardware while maintaining the ZEISS camera system. It is also given a new breath for a design that appears simple but elegant enough in its class. We were given the opportunity to try it early before the official launch in Malaysia. Here is a first look article for this phone.Brief Specificationsvivo V40 Pro 5GScreen 6.78″ OLED 120Hz, 1B colors, HDR10+2400 X 1080 pixels, 4,500nits~453 PPIMediatek Dimensity 9200+ processor (4 nm)1 x 3.35 GHz Cortex-X3 chip3 x 3.0 GHz Cortex-A7154 x 2.0 GHz Cortex-A510Immortalis-G715 MC11 Graphics ChipRAM 12GB RAM(+12GB Virtual RAM)Internal Load 512 ROMMicroSD 1TBPrimary Camera 50 MP (wide), 1/1.56″ PDAF, OIS50 MP (telephoto), PDAF, OIS50 MP (ultra-wide)ZEISS Optics & HDR4K@30fps, 1080p@30fpsAura Light 3.0Front Camera 50 MP HD f/2.0 HDR4K@30fps, 1080p@30fps5,500mAh battery80W FlashChargeSIM/Telephony 2 SIM Nano/5GNFC AvailableInfrared NoneWaterproof IP68Under Screen Fingerprint Scanning SystemFace ScanSale Price Not AnnouncedDesign And PackagingAgain elements that have been used on many of Vivo's existing phones can be seen here. The thin and light construction of the phone is indeed synonymous with the brand owned by BBK Electronics. It allows each user to adapt easily and even provide long-term comfort without feeling burdened. The consistent use of the concept also has positive advantages and can help improve the company's performance for the long term. Seeing the finish is also enough to make eyes not turn away with two color options offered for the Malaysian market, namely Moonlight White and Stellar Silver. The main camera bump on the back further highlights its design. On the same side, the ZEISS and Vivo branding looks neat with both placed separately. A stronger match with the Aura Light lighting system that will help improve the photography experience in low light. Another benefit that will be obtained using the lamp is three times brighter with a light source that produces soft shadows better than the previous generation. Technically to facilitate the reproduction of more realistic images. The screen is 6.78-inches from the OLED family with a resolution of 1.5K and a refresh rate of 120Hz. This is a standard size for most Vivo devices which should be able to present an adequate visual experience. With OLED panels, good color reproduction, contrast and viewing angles on the screen can be produced. Then the thin bezel size on almost all sides allows the device to offer a screen-to-body ratio of 89.9%.The right side houses the power button and audio adjustment with a comfortable construction to press. Then the SIM slot, USB-C port and speaker are placed on the bottom. Through it as many as two different SIMs can be used completely without room for a microSD card. The speaker is also a stereo type with Hi-Res audio support. At the same time the device has an IP68 rating which means it is waterproof and dustproof and we also welcome the in-screen fingerprint scanner system which works very responsively. The downside starts to appear when the device does not have a 3.5mm audio jack which requires users to spend more for additional accessories.Hardware And SoftwareMediatek Dimensity 9200+ octa-core processor is used in the received device. It should be able to be a better and more powerful version than the V30 Pro which is powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 8200 processor. With a combination of 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage which means pretty good performance can also be expected through this device. On the other hand, it appears to be an adequate combination, but it is still given the function of adding virtual RAM up to a maximum of 12GB RAM if necessary. It also still works automatically without the ability to resize the used memory as before. The experience is improved with the latest software FuntouchOS 14 based on Android 14 with user-friendly interface capabilities. Vivo also gives the freedom to change it according to needs, as well as being well optimized for ease of use. It also supports the Mini Windows function for a smoother multi-tasking experience, and can run up to 12 different applications in the background with an easier switching process. Other additional features include video editing features with customizable setting capabilities, as well as updates to the album function for safer image storage.Initial tests found the device to function normally without serious issues for a large number of daily activities. For example, taking pictures, watching videos, scrolling through social media and others. It will however continue to be tested from time to time to see more in-depth performance that will be shared in a review article later.Camera SystemVivo V40 Pro is equipped with a main tri-sensor with different uses. It consists of 50MP main with SONY IMX921 sensor and OIS. This is paired with 50MP for ultra-wide and 50MP telephoto with zoom options up to 2X optical further increasing at 50X digital. The camera supports built-in AI and HDR to allow photos to be taken with good light balance. In addition, it is equipped with a combination of technologies from ZEISS that help improve the quality and details of the image.A total of five focal lengths are also offered, namely 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm and 100mm with a choice of 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 and full aspect ratio shots. Then there are up to seven ZEISS bokeh effects to choose from including Biotar, B-speed, Sonnar, Plannar, Distagon, Cine-flare and Cinematic. As an interesting addition, users can also choose a bokeh effect with a focal length that has been adjusted directly through the Portrait Lens Kit feature. At the same time, several color profiles such as Vivid, Textured and ZEISS are also included for the purpose of fine-tuning colors for more vivid image results.Furthermore, 4K/30FPS recording capabilities with built-in stabilization are available on the device's camera system. While selfies can be taken using a 50MP camera placed in a small hole in the device's screen.Battery And ChargingThe 5,500mAh battery used can be recharged at a maximum power of 80W. It is an upgraded type of silicon-carbon with better ability in various conditions. Charging is wired using the USB-C port only with the charging head provided in the purchase box. What's In The BoxHere's what's included in the Vivo V40 Pro 5G box:1 x Vivo V40 Pro.1 x 80W Charger Head.1 x USB-C to USB-A Cable.1 x Silicone Frame.1 x User Manual.1 x SIM Extractor.ConclusionIt can be concluded that the Vivo V40 Pro has an attractive offer.
