Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Will Come To The Local Market – EV With 'Changing Gear' Experience

In the various electric cars in the local market, Hyundai through Sime Darby is among the brands that have a variety of options, namely the IONIQ and Kona series. At the Sime Darby Automania event, Hyundai showcased their latest IONIQ, the IONIQ 5 N.Hyundai IONIQ 5 N is an IONIQ 5 that is given the highest performance touch through the N label. It has the same body base as the IONIQ 5, but with performance-related designs such as ventilation holes, the existence of a translucent roof, the N label decorates all corners, a 21-inch rim design that also highlights N-labeled brake clutches, a steering wheel that also provides additional buttons and even a seat that provides comfort should the owner intend to drive this electric car on the race track. What differentiates this IONIQ 5 N from other EVs is the gear change lever on the steering wheel (paddle shifters) which acts as a 'gear'. It is well known that electric cars usually do not have the same gears as petrol cars, and the speed increases directly, without the need for any gear change. Even the gear change lever found on the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 works to change the level of regenerative braking, and not to change gears. To provide an extraordinary experience, the driver of the IONIQ 5 N can activate N e-Shift to experience the gear change process, even if the driver accelerates without changing gears, this car will provide the same sound and interface display as if the driver did not change gears, at the same time providing experience like driving a petrol car. The sound generated is not only the sound in the driving cabin, but the sound can be heard outside the car and the driver can choose up to 3 sound options. It has two electric motors that can deliver 650PS of power and 770Nm of torque when the N Grin Boost accelerator button is pressed, allowing acceleration from 0-100 km/h to be achieved in as fast as 3.4 seconds and has a maximum speed of 260 km/h. Even the driver can also set the level of suspension, the level of steering control, and with special functions for the N series such as setting the temperature of the battery so that it is always in a suitable condition for racing. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N has an 84kWh capacity battery that provides a travel distance of 448 WLTP and supports DC charging as high as 350 kW, enabling 10-80% charging as fast as 18 minutes. It also has 11kW AC charging and gives a 0-100% charging time of around 8 hours 45 minutes. At the moment there is no further information but there are rumors stating that the price of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 may be sold at a price not exceeding RM 400,000. Hyundai Malaysia has opened an interest registration page for this car and for those of you who are interested, you can go directly to their official website, or attend the Sime Darby Automania event at the Bukit Jalil Stadium this weekend.
