Qualcomm Reportedly Interested in Buying Intel's Chip Design Business

It's no secret that Intel is going through a difficult era with declining earnings and losses being recorded by several businesses under their management umbrella. Among the rumors heard is that Intel wants to sell the foundry business to reduce the company's operating costs in the near future.According to a Reuters report today, Qualcomm has begun inquiries to buy Intel's PC chip design business. If acquired, Qualcomm will increase the business portfolio with them this year aggressively marketing Snapdragon X chips for Windows PCs on ARM. The advantages of Qualcomm chips at this time are reduced power consumption, good battery life and better connectivity to cellular networks compared to X86 PCs.In addition to looking at Intel's PC chip design business, Qualcomm is also making inquiries for several other businesses. Intel and Qualcomm declined to comment on this report. The impact on Intel has already started to be seen in Malaysia with the reduction of up to 2000 workers will be done in Penang but the company insists there is no change in their plans for now, and Intel also emphasized that Malaysia is an important market for them as it has been established since 1972 .
