Samsung, Google and Qualcomm Headset Project Reportedly Delayed Again

Samsung was due to launch a pair of augmented reality (AR) headsets in partnership with Google and Qualcomm this year but the project was put on hold after seeing Apple's Vision Pro launch. There is no date when it will be launched with all three companies keeping quiet.Now according to Korean media reports, this project has been postponed once again after seeing what happened to Vision Pro. According to Hankooki's report, the project was delayed because the direction of the device was changed after seeing disappointing sales of the Vision Pro after the first wave. Vision Pro reportedly only sold around 130,000 thousand units in the United States which is much lower than the target between 300-400 thousand units.Looking at this situation, Samung, Google and Qualcomm are now believed to be producing smart glasses like those produced by Meta through collaboration with Ray-Ban. Sales of these glasses have been so encouraging that the two companies continued their exclusive collaboration for another ten years last week.The decision is also believed to be taken after LG also stopped development of their XR headset. Even Meta itself canceled development of the new Meta Quest Pro and focused on more powerful smart glasses.
