Best Devices 2024

The year 2024 will end with two more earth cycles and every year it is our duty to publish a list of the best devices throughout the year. There are devices that were reviewed at the beginning of the year as less satisfactory but after updating they become very worthwhile and there are also the opposite.Selection CriteriaReviewed by Us.Best in their respective categories.Flagship.Officially launched in Malaysia between mid-December 2023 to mid-December 2024BEST FLAGSHIP DEVICES 2024Samsung Galaxy S24 UltraThis year is a year filled with the launch of many amazing flagship devices. All-day battery life, high-power processing and amazing camera capabilities are the bets of every brand. I chose the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra because it offers several features that other devices don't have, such as S-Pen stylus support, the best anti-glare screen of 2024, a powerful processor, receiving the earliest Circle to Search support and the device will be updated for 7 years, putting it on par with the Google Pixel series and Apple iPhone. Some might say why not the Pixel 9 Pro XL? Personally, I feel that the Tensor G4 processor used is disappointing and only comparable to a mid-range processor. Furthermore, the Pixel, which uses stock Android, is missing out on various additional features that I am used to on Samsung devices. I can't live without the Side Panel and camera controls with the palm of my hand. This is why I put the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra as the best device of 2024.Specifications: 6.8” Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X, QHD+, 120Hz, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (4nm) (1X Cortex X4 3.39 GHz + 3X Cortex-A720 3.1 GHz + 2X Cortex-A720 2.9 GHz + 2X A520 2.2 GHz), Adreno 750, 12GB RAM, 256/512/1000 GB storage, 200+12+50+10MP (Main), 12MP (Selfie), 5000 mAh (45W), Android 14.Price: Starting at RM6299 (12/256GB)Vivo X200 ProI've used a lot of great smartphones this year but the Vivo X200 Pro is my favorite. So what makes this phone special? First of all, of course, the premium design with high-quality materials. The use of quality materials not only increases the durability of the device but also gives a better perception of quality. Then there is the great camera system consisting of a 50MP wide (23mm) that supports OIS stabilization and an aperture of f/1.6).Then there is the camera with several exclusive modes such as ZEISS Cinematic Video Mode, ZEISS Biotar Portrait Mode, and others. The 32MP front camera is also able to attract the attention of selfie enthusiasts. Performance is also solid through the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip, and you can get a memory option of 16GB RAM and 512G internal storage. The 6000mAh silicon carbon battery is also suitable for daily use and fast charging is given to be even better. The X200 Pro runs the latest Android 15 with Funtouch 15, where vivo promises four years of major Android updates for this device.Specifications: 6.78″ AMOLED, 120Hz, HDR10+, 4500 nits, Dimensity 9400 (3nm) (1×3.63 GHz Cortex-X925, 3×3.3 GHz Cortex-X4 & 4×2.4 GHz Cortex-A720), Immortalis-G925, 16GB RAM, 512GB internal storage, 50+50+200MP (Main), 32MP (Selfie), 6000 mAh (90W), Android 15.Price: RM4,699 (16/512GB)Google Pixel 9 Pro XLWhy did I choose the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL as the best smartphone of 2024.Actually, it's because I'm happy, as a user since the Google Pixel 1, it's finally the first time it's officially offered in Malaysia. Then, with Pixel I will receive various exclusive Android features and be able to try new features early. The Pixel camera with portrait capabilities, Night Sight and Zoom Enhance is also very satisfying. Not forgetting the 7-year update support that makes competing devices just look jealous and cry.Specifications: 6.8” LTPO OLED, QHD+, 120Hz, Tensor G4 (4nm) (1X Cortex X4 3.1 GHz + 3X Cortex-A720 2.6 GHz + 4X Cortex-A520 1.95 GHz), Mali-G715 (MC7), 16GB RAM, 128/256 GB storage, 50+48+48 MP (Main), 42MP (Selfie), 5060 mAh (37W), Android 15.Price: Starting at RM5699 (16/128GB)ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro EditionIn terms of performance, the ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition that I reviewed is not much different when compared to the previous model, however, what I really like about this latest gaming smartphone is that ASUS has introduced built-in AI functions that are really useful for gamers, especially for hardcore fans of games like Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Mobile Legends and Honor of Kings. The X Sense 2.0 feature introduces features such as speeding up dialogue and picking up items (useful for Genshin Impact players) and loading in-game character skills into the appropriate slots when they level up (useful for Mobile Legends and Honor of Kings players). The AniMe Play gaming function using the AniMe Vision display may be seen as just a gimmick, it is something interesting and new for any device maker.Specifications: 6.78” LTPO AMOLED, FHD+, 185Hz, Snapdragon 8 Elite (3nm) (2X Oryon V2 Phoenix L 4.32 GHz + 6X Oryon V2 Phoenix M 3.53 GHz), Adreno 830, 24GB RAM, 1000 GB storage, 50+32+13MP (Main), 32MP (Selfie), 5800 mAh (65W), Android 15.Price: Starting at RM5999 (24/1000GB)
