OpenAI and Los Alamos Lab Test How AI Can Help Science Research

Artificial intelligence (AI) has proven to be effective in detecting cancer cells, predicting the weather and helping to read ancient scrolls that are 2000 years old. OpenAI today announced a collaboration with Los Alamos National Laboratory to test the use of AI to help scientists conduct bioscience research.Among the things that will be done is to see if AI like GPT-4o can help teach correct procedures to less skilled technicians. GPT-4o can also be used to check whether the apparatus is installed and in use by simply looking through the camera.Meanwhile, Los Alamos National Laboratory will see if there is a risk that AI can be used by certain parties to create biological weapons. Among the risks identified earlier is that AI is used to create explosions because it has knowledge of various topics. So far OpenAI technology has been used by Moderna to help clinical trials by analyzing the data that has been collected and Color Health has used GPT-4o to help make decisions on cancer screening and treatment.OpenAI choosing Los Alamos National Laboratory as the location to test AI for scientific purposes is quite interesting because 81 years ago this laboratory was responsible for developing the first atomic bomb using the expertise of the leading scientist J Robert Oppenheimer.
