In the mid-range smartphone market, the name Realme is quite famous, especially their series numbers because I myself have used the Realme 5 Pro as a daily device. This time, they came with the Realme 16 Pro+ but there are some rather strange things that Realme has given to this device. To know more, continue reading this review article.Realme 16 Pro+ 5G6.8-inch screen, 1280 x 2800 pixelsAMOLED, 144Hz, 6500 nits (peak)19.5:9 ratio (~453 ppi)Corning Gorilla Glass 7iSnapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor (4nm)1 x 2.8 GHz Cortex-720 chip4 x 2.4 GHz Cortex-7203 x 1.8 GHz Cortex-520)Adreno 722 Graphics ChipRAM 12GB RAM512GB Internal Storage(no microSD)Main Camera 200 MP, f/1.8 (wide), PDAF, OIS50 MP, f/2.0 (ultra-wide)4K@30/60FPSFront Camera 50 MP, f/2.4 (wide),4K@30/60fps1080p@30/60fpsBattery Si/C Li-Ion 7000 mAh80W wiredDual SIM Nano SIM/TelephonyNFC YesInfrared YesWaterproof IP68/69KScanning System Fingerprint ScanFace ScanSelling Price RM 2299 (12/512GB)DesignThe Realme 16 Pro+ this time brings a design that is quite different from the previous model, especially for the color of the unit we received, which is Master Gold. The back panel uses a leather-like finish that is rough and provides a good grip when holding the device, this is also helped by the curved design of this device. However, I noticed that this back panel easily traps dust and dirt so it is quite crunchy to clean it regularly.Another thing I don't like is the position of the Realme writing on the back, it's like just putting the brand name there randomly. This also reminds me of the Realme X2 Pro before for the same reason. On the camera module, it uses a shiny aluminum material. The side also uses a shiny aluminum frame so it easily traps fingerprints and dirt.Although the Realme 16 Pro+ is equipped with a 7000mAH battery, I don't feel that this device is heavy at all. This level of thinness is also quite impressive, only 0.85 cm thick. So using this device all day feels very premium again with the new design that it brings. From the outside, this device also doesn't look like a mid-range device. The button layout still looks normal like other devices. The bottom houses a microphone, USB-C charging port, speaker and a slot for a sim card that can accommodate two sims simultaneously. At the top, there is a second speaker, infrared sensor and also a second microphoneScreenFor the screen on this Realme 16 Pro+, there is nothing bad that I can highlight. It uses a 6.8” AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution, the brightness level can reach 6500nits which is quite impressive and coupled with a 144Hz refresh rate. For those of you who are fans of HDR content, this device also supports HDR10+.In terms of screen specifications, the Realme 16 Pro+ does not disappoint, there is only one thing you need to know, the screen provided is a curved type. This depends on your interest in flat or curved screens, but for me, I am more interested in a flat screen.I can indeed give praise to the screen quality from color accuracy, brightness level and so on. The screen provided can provide maximum satisfaction for you to watch any movie, drama or content on social media.Software – Realme UI 7The Realme 16 Pro+ runs Realme UI 7 based on Android 16. This software is the same as that on OPPO and OnePlus devices. In terms of aesthetics and design, the Realme UI is quite interesting, especially the icon design and various personalizations that can be made through Flux Themes according to user taste. Navigating in Realme UI is also quite easy if you have never used it.This Realme UI is also loaded with several AI features available to users but the one that interests me the most is the AI Gaming Coach where the AI will give you a prediction of the game whether you win or lose and it will also give you some tips while in the game. However, this AI Gaming Coach is only available for games like Mobile Legends Bang Bang and PUBG Mobile only.As is the case with other devices from China, this Realme UI also does not run away with the fat applications available but it is not as much as before. Ads are also still present in this Realme UI but not as lively as before and you can close it directly via Settings. Finally, this Realme UI also gets 3 years of Android update support and 4 years of security patches which is just enough for a mid-range device.PerformanceThe Realme 16 Pro+ is equipped with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip, yes, the same chip used in the Realme 15 Pro a few months ago. This chip is combined with the use of 12GB LRDDR5X memory with UFS 3.1 storage. The performance is not too great and not too bad either. You can judge for yourself through the benchmark test scores below. Here is a comparison of the capabilities of the Realme 16 Pro+ compared to several other devices in the same price range.Nothing Phone (4a) Pro – Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 (4nm)Poco X8 Pro – Dimensity 8500 Ultra (4 nm)Vivo V70 – Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 (4nm)Oppo Reno15 – Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 (4nm)Oppo Reno14 Pro – Dimensity 8450 (4 nm)Honor 400 Pro – Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (4 nm)Google Pixel 10 Pro XL – Tensor G5 (3 nm)Poco X7 Pro – Dimensity 8400 Ultra (4 nm)AnTuTu 3DScore DeviceRealme 16 Pro+ 1,424,007Nothing Phone 4(a) Pro 1,408,711Poco X8 Pro 2,086,502Vivo V70 1,464,284Oppo Reno15 1,412,018Oppo Reno14 Pro 1,437,541Honor 400 Pro 1,861,573Google Pixel 10 Pro XL 1,214,735Geekbench 6Single Core Multi Core DeviceRealme 16 Pro+ 1337 4132Nothing Phone 4(a) Pro 1282 3907Poco X8 Pro 1721 6340Vivo V70 1361 4181Oppo Reno15 1280 3857Oppo Reno14 Pro 1615 6174Honor 400 Pro 1224 6083Google Pixel 10 Pro XL 2303 61343DMark Wildlife ExtremeChip ScoreRealme 16 Pro+ 2108Nothing Phone 4(a) Pro 1993Poco X8 Pro 4120Vivo X70 2093Oppo Reno15 2082Oppo Reno14 Pro 3780Honor 400 Pro 4467Google Pixel 10 Pro XL 2567If you beat this device by playing games like MLBB on ultra settings it heats up quite quickly but it doesn't interfere with your gaming session. The same thing with PUBG Mobile with a fairly long gaming session. If you use it normally in everyday life it can still give a very good experience where it feels very smooth and fast.In a market full of mid-range devices with more powerful chips, I think the Realme 16 Pro+ is a little underwhelming compared to its competitors. However, reusing this old chip is not a new and bad thing, if you are not chasing the performance of this chip it is enough.CameraPerhaps in the Realme 16 Pro+ camera section, this one shines more because it is equipped with a 200MP main lens with a Samsung HP5 sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom and finally an 8MP ultra-wide lens with a 115-degree field of view as a complement. For the selfie camera, it is also equipped with a 50MP lens. The main lens can produce very good images, color control according to the available color profiles, namely vibrant or natural. The vibrant color profile option somewhat increases the color concentration and the natural option will balance the colors according to the real world. Sharpness is also quite good and you can zoom up to 2x without losing detail. To get even more sharpness in the image, you can use the 200MP mode available. The telephoto lens can also be said to be quite good in sufficient light conditions, but when compared to devices in its class. However, this lens is just a regular telephoto lens, not a periscope type. The color change between the lenses is also minimal, but at night there is a slight oversharpening effect to increase the sharpness in the image. One thing I don't like is the ultrawide lens on the Realme 16 Pro+ using a rather outdated MP value of 8MP. They have given full power to the main and telephoto lenses but seem to have forgotten the ultrawide lens. The resulting images, as can be expected, are less sharp when viewed more closely. I can say that this lens is only a complement to complete the three-camera quorum.AudioOne part that I feel is very weak on the Realme 16 Pro+ is its speakers. Despite using a stereo configuration, the sound produced by this speaker is less exciting especially when listening to songs. The sound is like you put a speaker in a tunnel. While watching content on Youtube, I didn't really feel this problem.BatteryThe Realme 16 Pro+ is loaded with a battery capacity of 7000mAH with the help of Silicon Carbon technology and this is also why this device still looks thin with a large capacity. In terms of battery life, as can be expected it can last a day for around 9 hours without any problems with using the camera and also playing games a little. To recharge the device, Realme has included an 80W SUPERVOOC charger in the box. A full charge takes around 50 minutes when charged from 20%. It's not the fastest but considering its large battery capacity, the speed is pretty good.ComparisonRealme 16 Pro+ Nothing Phone (4a) Pro Poco X8 Pro6.8″ AMOLED, 144HzHDR10+, 6500 nits 6.83″ AMOLED, 144HzHDR10+, 5000 nits 6.59″ OLED, 120HzDolby Vision, 3500 nitsSnapdragon 7 Gen 4 (4nm)1 x 2.8 GHz Cortex-7204 x 2.4 GHz Cortex-7203 x 1.8 GHz Cortex-520) Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 (4nm)1 x 2.8 GHz Cortex-7204 x 2.4 GHz Cortex-7203 x 1.8 GHz Cortex-520) Dimensity 8500 Ultra (4nm)1x Cortex-A725 3.4 GHz3xCortex-A725 3.2 GHz4xCortex-A725 2.2 GHzAdreno 722 Adreno 722 Mali-G720 MC812 GB LPDDR5X 8/12 GB LPDDR5X 12 GB LPDDR5X512 GB UFS 3.1 128/256 GB UFS 3.1 512 GB UFS 4.1200MP f/1.9, OIS (Wide Angle)8MP f/2.2 (Ultra Wide)50MP f/2.8, OIS (Telephoto 3.5X) 50MP f/1.9, OIS (Wide Angle)8MP f/2.2 (Ultra Wide)50MP f/2.9, OIS (Telephoto 3.5X) 50MP f/1.5, OIS (Wide Angle)8MP f/2.2 (Ultra Wide)50MP f/2.4 32MP f/2.2 20MP f/2.2IP69K IP65 IP68 / IP69KNo audio jack No audio jack No audio jackAudio Stereo Audio Stereo Audio Stereo7000 mAhWired 80W5080 mAhWired 50WReverse 7.5W 6500 mAhWired 100WRM 2,399 (12/512GB) RM 2,299 (12/256GB) RM 1,499 (8/256GB)RM 1,699 (8/512GB)RM 1,899 (12/512GB)What's in the BoxHere's what's included in the box we received:1 x Realme 16 Pro+1 x USB-A to USB-C Cable1 x 80W SUPERVOOC USB-A Charger1 x Frame1 x Manual User.1 x SIM Ejector.ConclusionThe Realme 16 Pro+ brings some good combinations for a mid-range device such as a design with flagship-like build materials, good screen quality, amazing battery life and good camera quality in its class. This curved design may not follow the taste and trend of current devices so it's better for you to feel it yourself at a nearby store first if it suits your taste. In addition, this is not a device for those of you who are chasing high speed and performance, it is more about balanced and simple use.ProsNew Rear Panel Design.Good Screen Quality.Realme UI 7 is User-Friendly.Amazing Battery Performance.Good Main and Telephoto Camera Quality.Premium Curved Design.ConsSpeakers are less than satisfactory. There are over-processed images.Same chip as last year.8MP Ultrawide Lens That Is A Bit Lagging.
