WhatsApp Develops Automatic Welcome Messages Feature in Groups

Giving greetings every time a new member joins a group can be a tedious task for admins. However, this situation is expected to be overcome through a new feature that WhatsApp is currently developing, namely automatic welcome messages. This greeting message feature allows admins to set automatic messages for new members. This message helps them understand the purpose of the group, the rules and the context of the conversation more quickly. For example, something like “Assalamualaikum and selamat sejahtera, I on behalf of the admin welcome new members to this group.”In addition, only one welcome message can be shared for all admins to ensure uniformity. This setting is optional and is not automatically activated, but admins need to activate it first through the group permission settings section. This feature is still in development and is not yet available in any beta version.Previously, WhatsApp introduced message history sharing (25–100 messages in the last 14 days) to make it easier for new members to follow the conversation. All shared messages are protected with end-to-end encryption, ensuring user privacy. The combination of these two features certainly makes the communication process more user-friendly and easy for new members. Not only can they quickly understand the context of the conversation, but they are also greeted with a welcome message that gives a positive perception of the group atmosphere.
