TP-Link Successfully Conducts First WiFi 8 Test

The WiFi 8 (IEEE 802.11bn) standard was announced by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers at the end of July. The next iteration of this wireless internet network was finally performed by TP-Link for the first time this week using prototype equipment developed in collaboration with undisclosed industry partners.WiFi 8 does not bring an increase in upload or download speeds, which are still up to 46 Gbps, the same as WiFi 7. The improvement of WiFi 8 is to ensure that all devices connected to the network will be able to use the highest internet speed at all times. It will also solve the problem of network dead spots with a longer network coverage distance. It also aims to target latency-free video gaming, real-time VR/XR implementation and enable smooth video streaming at 8K resolution. With the first WiFi 8 equipment successfully tested, several more tests will be conducted before the final standard is finalized by March 2028.
