Samsung Mass-Productions 24Gb GDDR7 Memory

In October 2024, Samsung announced that they were the first company to produce GDDR7 memory chips with a capacity of 24Gb. Now, the memory is finally ready for mass production for the consumer graphics card, data center and AI sectors.Samsung's GDDR7 memory previously came in 16Gb or ~2GB capacities for each memory chip with data transfer speeds of 28Gbps and 32Gbps. This memory has previously been seen used in graphics cards such as NVIDIA's latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5000.With this new module offering, each new GDDR7 memory chip comes in a capacity of 3GB, which allows it to be used with a wide range of today's powerful graphics cards. For example, a 512-bit graphics card can be installed with 96GB of this GDDR7 memory, while a 256-bit graphics card can accommodate up to 24GB of memory.Samsung has confirmed that its GDDR7 chips, which have already entered mass production, come with a data transfer speed of 28Gbps and are currently testing production of 24Gb memory with data transfer speeds of 32 and 36Gbps.Technically, these chips appear to be large and fast enough to be used in graphics card offerings such as the NVIDIA RTX 6000 Pro and NVIDIA GeForce RTX5090 without any problems. In fact, there are already rumors that NVIDIA may use this memory offering in the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5000 Super series of graphics cards that will be launched next year.
