LRT 3 Line Opening Now Delayed to Q2 2026 Again

What has been delayed several times has now been delayed again after inside sources said that the opening of the LRT 3 Service line or its official name LRT Shah Alam line will now only be done in Q2 2026 according to a report by The Star. This is a delay from the December 31 date announced by Transport Minister Anthony Loke last month.The delay was due to problems encountered during system testing for commissioning. The trend was found to have failed to maintain an operating speed of 80–90 km/h consistently and critical documentation and SOPs have not yet been finalized. As a result, the trend target of every 6 minutes could not be met to meet the frequency and capacity targets of the line.The Shah Alam LRT line is the fourth transit rail service in the Klang Valley and will be operated by Rapid KL. The line will have 25 stations, which for the first time are located outside the boundaries of Kuala Lumpur City. It connects Bandar Utama station in Petaling with Johan Setia station in Klang.The construction of this route cost RM21.93 billion, which is lower than the original estimated cost of RM31.65 billion when approved in 2015. When operational, it will be able to carry up to 39,260 passengers per hour.
