Google DeepMind has launched an open source artificial intelligence (AI) model, TranslateGemma, which is designed to simplify the language translation process. It supports 55 major languages, including Malay.Three models are offered, namely TranslateGemma 4B, TranslateGemma 12B and TranslateGemma 27B. TranslateGemma 4B can be used on smartphones, TranslateGemma 12B on laptops, while TranslateGemma 27B runs on an NVIDIA H100 GPU or a Google TPU in the cloud.It is built on the Gemma 3 model and therefore has multimodal capabilities for translating text and images. Developers can use TranslateGemma today through Kaggle, Hugging Face and Vertex AI.
