Airbus Tests Self-Battery-Swapping Walker S2 Robot

Leading European aerospace company Airbus is the latest firm to test UBTech's Walker S2 robot. The robot went viral last year for its ability to swap battery packs when needed without human intervention. The test was conducted to see how effective the humanoid robot would be on the factory floor assembling Airbus's aircraft.This is another success for UBTech after Texas Instruments, BYD and Foxconn also used the Walker S2 in their factories. Shenzhen-based UBTech aims to become a powerhouse in the world of humanoid robots. Each 1.76-meter-tall Walker S2 can lift up to 15 kilograms and change its own batteries in minutes to work non-stop.Besides UBTech, Tesla Optimus and Boston Dynamics Atlas are two other humanoid robots developed to work on the factory floor. Optimus is still in its early stages without any commercial customers. Atlas is used by Hyundai in its factories and is collaborating with Google DeepMind to develop AI technology through real-world models.
