WhatsApp Users Will Soon Require Paid Plans to Remove Ads

Advertiser support in the WhatsApp application has caused some users discomfort. WhatsApp seems to understand this and is now developing a paid subscription plan that allows users to opt for a completely ad-free experience.Through this plan, users will no longer see ads after watching a certain number of statuses and will not receive promotional channel suggestions. The subscription is fully optional, thus giving users the freedom to decide whether they want to continue receiving ads or subscribe to remove them.Subscription management can be done through a purchase in the Google Play Store and users can cancel the subscription at any time with changes taking effect within about 15 minutes. The subscription price is expected to be around €4 (~RM19) per month, but this figure is not yet final and may change depending on the country and Meta's decision before the official launch.Currently, the feature is still in development and is expected to be launched after all regulatory requirements in Europe and the United Kingdom (UK) are met. This may also be related to the viral rumor that Meta will introduce paid plans for other apps under its umbrella. At the same time, it is still unclear whether this plan will remain limited to these two countries or expand to other regions in the future.
