Panasonic Also Stops Manufacturing Its Own TVs

Growing up in the 80s, Japan was known as the world's leading manufacturer of electronic equipment. Now that all has changed with Sony no longer manufacturing its own phones and TVs and transferring production to TCL. Today FlatpanelsHD reports that Panasonic is also dancing away from manufacturing its own TVs.Instead, the production, marketing, and sales of Panasonic TVs will be taken over by Skyworth, based in Shenzhen, China. Panasonic will provide technical expertise, quality assurance, and collaborate in the development of high-end OLED models. After-sales support will still be managed by Panasonic.Panasonic previously only produced its own flagship TV models with mid-range TVs manufactured by third parties since 2021. The move comes in line with their declining TV sales. Panasonic was once the world's number one TV brand driven by the introduction of plasma technology. The world's number one TV manufacturer is now held by Samsung.
