Taara Beam Demonstrates Long-Distance Data Transmission Using Light Technology

Long-distance data transmission technology is something that often shows innovation from era to era. Copper wires are now replaced by optical fibers made of glass, and now, a new technology company, Taara has just proven that data can be transmitted quickly without the need for a glass fiber medium.The technology startup company Taara from the United States has just shown their new product called Beam, which is a light-emitting product that can emit light as far as 25KM and through that light, transmit data at a rate of 25Gbps.They can do this using the recently launched Taara Photonics Platform transmitter component, which comes with the size of only an index finger. It is loaded into the Beam hardware that comes with the size of a shoebox, and in short, the emitted light can also transmit data over long distances and the specified data transmission speed.This technology is an upgrade to the Lightbridge technology that is already used in more than 20 countries around the world, and telecommunications companies such as T-Mobile, Vodafone, Airtel and others. Lightbridge comes with a shorter distance and data transmission rate compared to Beam.The advantages of using data transmission technology using light can be shown through development logistics, where companies no longer need to plant fiber optic cables to connect building infrastructure to the internet network.A significant disadvantage that can be shown is that this technology, like many services that rely on optical technology, is limited by weather issues and also line of sight which can affect the data transmission speed.However, Taara also said that this technology can be used as a ring of nodes where if a direct connection cannot be made, it can use other transmitters to connect the transmitter to the network without degradation to the data transmission rate.
