Qualcomm to Launch First 6G Devices as Early as 2028

5G networks were only widely launched in Malaysia in 2021 and after four years it now covers almost all populated areas of the country. With 5G already launched, 6G development has already begun in China and South Korea, which are aiming to be the first countries to launch it.At the Snapdragon Summit 2025 event held in Hawaii today, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon said that his company will release the first pre-commercial 6G devices as early as 2028. An interesting target because China, for example, plans to launch their commercial 6G network by 2030.In the same speech, Amon shared Qualcomm's future with 6 trends that are seen to drive the future of artificial intelligence (AI), namely AI becoming the new UI, the world is changing to use AI agents, changing computing architectures, AI modes becoming increasingly hybrid, data-driven insights becoming increasingly important and future-looking networks.This is in the form of integrating all the sensors of smart devices including vehicles, glasses and earphones which are always aware of what is happening to provide relevant recommendations to users.
