Cleaning Wheels - Really Well!

Hey all! I'm going to be soon fitting up some new tyres to a set of rims here that are for Cheryl. Before I fit them though, I want to REALLY clean the wheels up. At the moment there is lots of old rubber chunks, and stuff like brake dust embedded all over the powder coating on the whole rims. What magic concoctions do people have that work REALLY well at cleaning up rims from this sort of muck, with out me needing to exhibit a million hours of hard labour scrubbing? I would prefer something that won't damage the powder coat on the rims too. If it matters, they're Wed Sport SA90 rims. I'll look to do the same clean up to my Advan RG2 rims for the other Skyline too eventually, but they're not in as bad of a shape in terms of rubber etc stuck on them.
