M35 ICE question.

Hey ya guys ..its question time from over here in Kiwi land. Just brought myself a replacement car after the rust in my 03 Aussie build Mitsi Diamante just got to serious and I couldn't be buggered sorting fixing it all . So I hunted down a serious want of mine for ages.a Nissan Stagea..wasn't expecting a M35 RX4 for under 3k NZ but there ya go 😊 Now to the point at last..I'm wanting to install a AM headunit from the Mitsi in it ..found out about the fascia and that the air con and factory stereo are one piece..the price here for that single or double din fascia will make a certain part of your anatomy pucker quite severely so ive another idea going on and i need your fellas input . The dvd/nav player hidden in the dash ...if i removed that ,,which i would never use anyway,,does it function with anything else apart from the display screen? I want to hide the new headunit in there along with a USB stick.. its an idea at the mo and I want to get an idea if its worth the effort or just save me biccies and buy the fascia .
