Santa Cruz peer-run mental health service provider MHCAN closes abruptly

SANTA CRUZ — A well-known peer-run behavioral health program in Santa Cruz that provides essential services to those with mental health struggles abruptly closed its doors in recent days, prompting collaborators in local government to step in and search for ways to get operations back online soon as possible. Santa Cruz County spokesperson Jason Hoppin told the Sentinel Monday that the county was notified about one week ago that the Mental Health Client Action Network of Santa Cruz, or MHCAN, had closed unexpectedly without an indication of when it will reopen.
