Uvalde’s school board voted Sept. 15 to keep Thompson & Horton as the district’s new legal counsel and authorized the superintendent to hire an independent attorney to review conflict of interest concerns. Thompson & Horton is also representing trustee JJ Suarez and former school cop Adrian Gonzales in a personal injury lawsuit from the Robb Elementary shooting, and UCISD did not disclose that information publicly before or during the Sept. 8 meeting in which trustees voted to hire the firm.
