TikTok has issued a statement about its services becoming unavailable. Lawmakers passed legislation that would ban TikTok from the U.S., if the social media platform didn't disassociate from its Chinese-owned parent company. The Supreme Court then upheld that potential ban. With the ban now slated to take effect, TikTok is "going dark," according to John Bresnahan, co-founder of Punchbowl News. "We regret that a U.S. law banning TikTok will take effect on January 19 and force us to make our services temporarily unavailable," it reads. "We're working to restore our service in the U.S. as soon as possible, and we appreciate your support." It adds, "Please stay tuned."
