Gleeful Trump thanks Supreme Court and says criminal cases will 'wither into obscurity'

Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social yet again on Monday afternoon to praise the Supreme Court's decision granting him partial immunity for "official acts" in the federal election conspiracy trial, a move that sends the charges brought by special counsel Jack Smith back to the district court for further review and could make it nearly impossible to go to trial before the election. This comes after Trump already made a post shortly after the decision was handed down, proclaiming it to be a "big win.""THE SUPREME COURT DECISION IS A MUCH MORE POWERFUL ONE THAN SOME HAD EXPECTED IT TO BE," wrote Trump. "IT IS BRILLIANTLY WRITTEN AND WISE, AND CLEARS THE STENCH FROM THE BIDEN TRIALS AND HOAXES, ALL OF THEM, THAT HAVE BEEN USED AS AN UNFAIR ATTACK ON CROOKED JOE BIDEN’S POLITICAL OPPONENT, ME. MANY OF THESE FAKE CASES WILL NOW DISAPPEAR, OR WITHER INTO OBSCURITY. GOD BLESS AMERICA!"ALSO READ: Give me the stuttering old man over the racist, sexist, lying fascistThere remains no evidence whatsoever that President Joe Biden was involved in the Justice Department-appointed special counsel's prosecution decisions. Monday's Supreme Court decision would make it effectively impossible to prosecute Biden if he chose to interfere. With the Supreme Court's lengthy delay of the process, the case joins two others against Trump that look destined to be kicked until after the election for various procedural reasons: the federal classified documents case in Florida, and the election racketeering case brought in Georgia by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis — which could itself have to be pared back but not completely stopped by the ruling. This would leave the Manhattan hush money case brought by District Attorney Alvin Bragg as the sole criminal case against the former president to make it to trial before the election. Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in that case and is set to be sentenced later this month.
