Trump tries to steal Olympics limelight with brag during closing ceremony

Donald Trump tried to take the limelight as the Paris Olympics came to an end Sunday night, bragging that he was responsible for bringing the 2028 games to Los Angeles.“As President-Elect, I worked with the Olympic Organizing Committee of Los Angeles in getting the 2028 Olympics to come to the United States,” he posted to Truth Social as the Paris’ closing ceremony was being aired. “There was tremendous competition from other countries.”The International Olympic Committee announced in 2017 that the two competing cities, LA and Paris, would both host, with Paris’ event going first.“President Obama refused to speak to the International Olympic Committee (perhaps because of a previous rejection by them of a proposal personally made by him!), which needed the enthusiastic support and approval of the U.S. - Without which they would not have chosen our Country,” Trump wrote, referring to an unsuccessful attempt to bring the games to Chicago in 2016.ALSO READ: Trump’s smear job climaxed prematurely — and now he’s stuck“I gave them what they wanted to hear, and got the job done!
