Former US lawmaker George Santos is expected to plead guilty to several charges in a federal fraud and money laundering case against him, according to an individual with knowledge of the matter. The former Republican lawmaker from New York is expected to plead guilty during a court hearing Monday in Long Island, a source told the Associated Press news agency. The source was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter. Until the publication of this news, there were no reactions from the three lawyers of Mr. Santos regarding the request of the Associated Press news agency to comment. The court hearing was set for Monday afternoon following a joint request on Friday by prosecutors and Mr. Santos' lawyers. They also sought and obtained court approval for adjournment of certain proceedings. The announcement comes just weeks before jury selection begins on September 9 in Mr. Santos' trial.
