Israeli Airstrikes Hit West Bank on Third Day of Incursions

Jenin, West Bank — Israel launched airstrikes in the occupied West Bank on Friday (30/8) as a large-scale military operation entered its third day, with both sides reporting at least 16 Palestinians killed. Meanwhile, a top United Nations (UN) aid official has questioned “what has happened to our basic humanity,” as the war rages on in Gaza and the UN humanitarian operation struggles to respond. The UN had earlier warned that Israel's military operation in the West Bank on Wednesday morning was “fueling an already explosive situation” in the region and urged Israel to end it. In the United States, Vice President Kamala Harris vowed she would not change Washington's policy of supplying arms to Israel if elected to office in November. But she stressed it was time to “end this war.” Israel has described its raids on towns and refugee camps across the northern West Bank as “counterterrorism” operations. Israeli forces have killed at least 16 Palestinians in attacks since Wednesday, a toll confirmed by the Palestinian health ministry.
