'Every single ally said he lost': Republicans said to 'universally' say Harris beat Trump

CNN's Kristen Holmes reported that Republican operatives "universally" believe Donald Trump lost this week's debate with Kamala Harris, even though he insists he won.The Republican nominee traveled from Arizona to southern California, where he will attend a fundraiser and speak with reporters Friday morning at Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes, and Holmes said she wasn't sure what to expect at that event."He is slated to give some sort of press remarks [but] we're not sure if there's going to be the generic press remarks that we generally hear from Trump and then he takes questions, or if this is just going to be him rambling on and then leaving," Holmes said. "Donald Trump has tried to reset the tone, reset the narrative around the debates, as you said, putting his own spin on it. Universally, Republican operatives, every single ally that I spoke to said that Donald Trump lost the debate. They were disappointed, but Donald Trump himself, he has continued to maintain that he won and now he is trying to sell that to at least his base."Trump rallied Thursday night in Tucson, where he shimmied onstage, continued ranting about immigrants eating pets in Ohio, and complained about ABC News journalists who moderated the debate."He got the cheers, he got the laugh lines that he wanted," Holmes said.
