More than 30 Countries Want to Become BRICS Members

Russian President Vladimir Putin, Thursday (12/9) held a meeting with representatives of the BRICS countries (an intergovernmental organization consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates) in St. Petersburg. In his speech, Putin said “more than thirty countries” wanted to join the organization. “We cannot ignore the growing interest of many countries in BRICS. Currently, more than 30 – 34 countries to be exact – have expressed their desire to join the organization in one form or another.
