Teresa Ribera will have to take on big tech companies, banks and airlines if she is confirmed as Europe's new antitrust chief, while also seeking to introduce looser rules to help create top EU companies. Ribera was nominated Tuesday by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for the top antitrust post. Ribera has served as Spain’s ecological transition minister since 2018. The 55-year-old Spanish socialist is one of Europe's most ambitious climate change policymakers, but she still has to win the approval of the European Parliament before taking office.
