Former President Donald Trump got a blunt fact-check from a key media figure after suggesting on his X Spaces event on Monday that Russia and China will cease to be adversaries of the United States if he is elected president again. "Russia, China, various places — I don't know that they're enemies," said Trump. "I think we'll get along great with China. I think we'll get along great with Russia. I want to get Russia to settle up with Ukraine." Trump did not specify what he thinks would be an acceptable "settling up" of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, or what he would think is reasonable for Ukraine to give up of its own sovereignty in exchange for an end to fighting.Commenters quickly took issue with Trump's assertion that he could just make U.S. adversaries friendly.ALSO READ: Corporate media keeps hiding the the truth about madman Donald Trump "In fact, both have formed a 'no limits' partnership to weaken the U.S. and its allies and undermine the U.S.-led international order because they see it as in their strategic interests," posted CNN anchor and national security analyst Jim Sciutto. "Their strategic interests will not suddenly change due to the personality of the person occupying the WH.""Yes, Russia and China, our longstanding friends," wrote attorney Bradley Moss sarcastically.Notably, Trump has made similar sentiments in the past, repeatedly saying on the 2016 campaign trail that he wanted the U.S. to "get along" with Russia even as Russia interfered in that very presidential election.
