Texas AG faces voting rights intimidation suit

A Texas nonprofit that hosts voter registration drives for young Latinos filed a complaint against Attorney General Ken Paxton, accusing him of intimidation and threatening to terminate its ability to do business in the state unless it shares confidential information about its volunteers and associates. Jolt Initiative accused Paxton of demanding confidential documents without probable cause or special need after a “television personality with a history of promoting conspiracy theories” made an online post claiming there were rampant fraudulent voter registration efforts in the area.
