'We shall not cease and desist': Voter group defies 'frivolous' threat from Nikki Haley

Former U.N. ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley declared war this week on Haley Voters for Harris, a group claiming to represent disaffected Republican primary voters who cast ballots for Haley and now back Vice President Kamala Harris for president over Trump. Now the group is fighting back.Haley, who ran a bitter fight against Trump and called him unfit to serve in office on the campaign trail, has subsequently endorsed Trump following his victory in the primaries and spoke at his nominating convention in Milwaukee. Now, she is accusing the group of falsely using her likeness."Any use by you of Ambassador Haley’s name, image, or likeness is without her permission. Ambassador Haley has been clear in her support of Harris’ opponent," stated a cease and desist letter from Haley's attorneys. "Any intimation that Ambassador Haley supports Harris is intentionally false and misleading."Read also: 'Pathetic': Nikki Haley slammed for 'unprincipled groveling' to Trump at RNCBut Haley Voters for Harris, which is run by the political organization PivotPAC and was previously known as Haley Voters for Biden, pointed out in a new press statement that they have been active for months with Haley "at no time" taking issue with it, and that the group doesn't purport to represent Haley, simply people who voted for her."The letter fails to identify a single statement that misrepresents Ambassador Haley's views. The suggestion that PivotPAC may be engaged in intentional misrepresentations to the public is frivolous and defamatory," said the statement. Additionally, Haley's warning letter "misstates election law," falsely claiming Haley's name is on the registered committee, PivotPAC, which it is not."We shall not cease and desist and our First Amendment speech will not be silenced because our activities under 'Haley Voters for Harris' campaign are fully compliant with the law," the group said.Read the full letter below or at the link here. — (@)
