Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) attacked Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan for supposedly violating the U.S. Constitution, only to be quickly cut down by Rep. Daniel Goldman (D-NY) in a congressional hearing Wednesday.Boebert asked Regan whether he would stop implementing environmental regulations she falsely claimed the U.S. Supreme Court declared "unconstitutional" when it overturned the so-called "Chevron doctrine" that gave deference to executive branch agencies over courts when it comes to interpreting regulations passed by Congress.While the ruling makes it possible for courts to override agencies on such regulations, it does not declare such regulations as illegal as a whole, a point that appeared lost on Boebert."Are you going to repeal [regulations] or are you going to continue to implement them, or are you going to stop all together since it's been overturned?" she asked Regan.Regan, however, appeared confused by Boebert's questioning and asked her, "Do you understand the ruling?"ALSO READ: Trump’s ‘secretary of retribution’ has a ‘target list’ of 350 people he wants arrestedBoebert was undeterred."Do you understand the ruling of the Supreme Court?" she demanded to know."I do," replied Regan. "Your question is ill-formed."Shortly after this exchange, Goldman spoke to Regan and explained why he found Boebert's line of questioning to be nonsensical."The ruling, as you know, said that the courts should not defer to agency rule-making if a statute is ambiguous, and instead the courts get to determine... what the statute means," he said.
