A mangrove's decade long journey ends after Hurricane Ian

Andrew West is a photojournalist at The News-Press & Naples Daily News. He has been covering Southwest Florida since 1997. Among his favorite topics to cover are the environment and the outdoors. He worked on this visual essay for several years and it was originally published in late 2024 at the height of a very active hurricane season.
