Natanz Nuclear Facility Targeted In New Attack

By Osama Ali (Albawaba) -- Iran's Atomic Energy Organization said on Saturday that the U.S.-Israeli onslaught was responsible for another attack on one of the country's key nuclear facilities at the Natanz nuclear complex. The organization asserted that the uranium enrichment plant in Natanz was the target of the assault, but it also confirmed that there was no radioactive leak, attributing this to the facility's safety measures. Iranian authorities condemned the strike, saying that targeting the site violated the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). The Natanz factory had been attacked earlier this month. Following the incident, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) observed damage to many parts of the complex, including structures near the entrance to the underground enrichment plant. At the time, Tehran also confirmed that no radioactive leak had been discovered despite the damage caused by earlier strikes. The nation's uranium enrichment program depends on Natanz, one of Iran's most significant nuclear facilities. Growing tensions in the region over Iran's nuclear program coincide with the most recent attack. The facility's frequent targeting has sparked worries about the security and environmental risks associated with military operations involving nuclear plants, particularly in a region where violence is already at an all-time high.
