Job offer withdrawal may have been unfair

CHICAGO — A law firm was unable to secure summary judgment in Illinois federal court on the discrimination claim filed by a Muslim Arab woman whose job offer was rescinded in light of her public statements about Gaza following the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack in Israel. A jury could reasonably conclude the firm applied its standards unevenly because non-Arab, non-Muslim attorneys who posted inflammatory pro-Israel statements were not disciplined.
