The Green Church proves it can really rock

Skeptics learned a lesson this past weekend. The Green Church, a rebrand of the Mt. Vernon Place United Methodist Church, made its debut as a rock opera house for a Grateful Dead-inspired band. When neighborhood leaders bought the moribund Mount Vernon church last year, it remained a question if their good intentions would go beyond having the 1872 landmark open a couple of times a year, maybe for a Christmas concert?
