Cook Islands has recorded its first dengue-related death, prompting the Ministry of Health to launch Operation Namu26, a coordinated national response involving island-wide cleanups and intensified spraying to curb rising cases. Secretary of Health Bob Williams confirmed that the Cook Islands has recorded its first dengue-related death. Williams stated that an elderly local with underlying medical conditions died on February 2 after presenting late to the hospital with the mosquito-borne disease caused by dengue virus.
