Monterey Peninsula agencies demand rehearing of water decision

MONTEREY – Three Monterey Peninsula public agencies have petitioned a state regulator for a rehearing on a decision it made last month to accept future water supply and demand estimates from California American Water Co., arguing the regulator failed a number of legal requirements in its decision as well as accepting unfounded data. The city of Marina, Marina Coast Water District and the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District each filed separate petitions charging that the California Public Utilities Commission failed to follow state law when it approved Cal Am’s estimates.
