Kindergarten vaccination rates plummet at UCISD

One in five kindergartners enrolled in Uvalde’s school district were unvaccinated against measles, chicken pox and polio when classes began in August, a 16-percent drop from last year. As of Aug. 15, 78 percent of Uvalde kindergartners had received MMR (measles, mumps and rubella), polio and chicken pox vaccines, and 77 percent were vaccinated against diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough. In comparison, over 94 percent of kindergartners received the same vaccines last year. Vaccination rates for hepatitis A and B in the district were much higher, with 94 and 97 percent of students...
