Ukraine and France Approve Reconstruction Projects Under €200 Million Agreement

Ukraine and France have approved 19 projects aimed at restoring Ukraine’s critical infrastructure under a €200 million agreement. Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy announced this on Friday. During a visit to Paris, Ukrainian Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko discussed reconstruction projects with French officials and business representatives. The agreement, signed in October 2024, will fund projects in healthcare, energy, infrastructure, humanitarian demining, and other sectors. All projects are expected to be completed within 5 to 16 months. Of the €200 million, €60 million will be allocated to support the energy sector, Svyrydenko said. According to the minister, this agreement will significantly enhance the energy potential of cities in need, including Kharkiv, Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhzhia, and other regions. The funding will help modernize outdated infrastructure, implement digital solutions, restore damaged facilities, diversify energy sources, and transition to green energy. For reference, Italy recently pledged €13 million to Ukraine’s Energy Support Fund through a newly signed agreement. Meanwhile, the U.S. has halted its energy support programs for Ukraine. Specifically, the U.S. State Department has suspended the USAID project for restoring Ukraine’s power grid following Russian attacks.
