The National Cybersecurity Coordination Center of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) will establish a regional cyber alliance involving Ukraine, Romania, and Moldova, the NSDC press service announced. According to Natalia Tkachuk, head of the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center, the creation of this alliance is a key step in implementing the agreements reached by the presidents of Ukraine, Romania, and Moldova during the 4th Ukraine–Southeast Europe Summit. “Russia, as a terrorist state, uses cyberspace to pose threats to the security and stability of the democratic world. The alliance will serve as a platform to strengthen collective cybersecurity among member countries and to develop effective mechanisms to counter such threats,”Tkachuk stated. She noted that the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration had proposed to provide the organizational base for the alliance by establishing a regional cybersecurity center. The first consultations on the alliance took place in Chernivtsi in late July. “The alliance aims at practical cooperation in countering cyber and hybrid threats, particularly those from Russia. It will also enhance cooperation among Ukraine, Romania, and Moldova in sharing cyber threat intelligence, developing AI-based solutions, training specialists, conducting joint cyber defense operations, improving critical infrastructure resilience, and protecting democratic institutions,”the statement read. The NSDC emphasized that the alliance’s core principles will include joint response capabilities to cyberattacks threatening national security and openness to other countries that share democratic values and strategic goals.
