Global Leaders Condemn Russia’s Massive Attack on Kyiv

Representatives of numerous countries, diplomats, and politicians have condemned Russia’s massive overnight attack on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities. “While the world seeks a path to peace, Russia responds with missiles,”— EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas. Kallas called the strikes a deliberate escalation and mockery of diplomatic efforts, stressing that Russia must stop the killings and engage in negotiations. Belgium’s Foreign Minister Maxim Prévot said: “Russia again shows it has no real desire for peace. It chooses terror, destruction, and lies over dialogue.”He expressed full solidarity with the victims and Ukraine. Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal emphasized: “The only language Putin understands is pressure—stronger sanctions and unwavering military support for Ukraine.” EU Parliament President Roberta Metsola called the attacks part of “senseless aggression”, highlighting that EU Delegation staff were targeted but remain safe. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen demanded Russia immediately stop indiscriminate attacks on civilian infrastructure. EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Maternova described the strikes as a campaign of terror, not a military operation: “No one is safe. Not families at home, not children in their beds, not those representing the EU in Kyiv. Putin will stop at nothing.” Other leaders condemning the attacks include: Lithuania’s FM Kęstutis Budrys: “Our response must be decisive—harsher sanctions, faster arms deliveries to Ukraine.” Council of Europe Secretary-General Alen Berset: “Each strike makes peace more distant.” Norway’s MFA: Praised Ukrainian courage and called for stronger support. Moldova’s FM Mihai Popșoi: Expressed solidarity and prayers for victims. Netherlands’ MFA and Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans: Urged increased pressure and sanctions. European Commissioner for Defence Andrus Ansip: “Only through strength can peace be achieved in Europe.” Austria’s FM Beate Meinl-Reisinger: Called for a united European front in support of Ukraine. Italy’s FM Antonio Tajani: Expressed sympathy for victims and solidarity with EU institutions. Germany’s Embassy in Ukraine: Highlighted over 10 killed, including children, and extensive destruction of civilian buildings and EU Delegation offices. “Russia is the only aggressor. We must increase pressure on Moscow,” — German Embassy in Ukraine. Slovakia’s MFA condemned the attacks on civilian infrastructure, including the EU Delegation building, stressing that such actions undermine peace efforts globally.
